4. Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium

Located in nearby Townsville, Reef HQ is the world's largest living coral reef aquarium. 5. James Cook Museum

The James Cook Museum is located in the historic town of Cooktown, a 3-hour drive north of the Whitsundays. The museum is housed in the former convent of the Immaculate Conception, the site where James Cook and his crew were cared for during their visit to the town in 1770. Here you'll find a fascinating collection of Cook-related artefacts, including maps, navigation equipment, and other items used on his voyages to Australia.

6. Cannonvale Beach Market

The Cannonvale Beach Market is held every Saturday at the Cannonvale Beach foreshore. Here you can browse stalls selling a range of handmade crafts, clothing, and jewellery. There is also a range of food and drink stalls, as well as live music and other entertainment.
